Background & Experience

Andris discovered his passion for cycling accessibility in 2008 when helping his aging parents find safe, manageable routes around their hometown near Jelgava. What began as a personal mission evolved into a professional career when he formalized his route-testing methodology and began collaborating with local tourism boards across Latvia.

After completing his degree in Geography at the University of Latvia in 2007, he worked for three years with the Latvian Tourism Development Agency. This experience provided him with foundational knowledge in regional planning and tourism infrastructure development. In 2011, he launched his independent cycling route consultancy, combining his academic training with practical field expertise.

Over the past 16 years, Andris has personally cycled and documented over 2,400 kilometers of routes. His work has been featured in multiple regional cycling publications and tourism guides. He's become a recognized authority on accessible leisure cycling throughout the Baltic region, with particular emphasis on flat-terrain routes suitable for older adults.

Today, he's driven by a simple belief: age shouldn't limit anyone's ability to experience Latvia's natural beauty by bicycle. He approaches each route with meticulous attention to surface quality, gradient, signage clarity, and rest facilities—the factors that matter most to senior cyclists.
